Wikipedia

Well there was already a link to our library, as I suspected there would be. I have concerns about Wikipedia because of the ability of anyone to add anything. Unfortunately there are many that believe wikipedia is equivalent to an online encyclopedia. I dont often use it because of that. Sorry not a wikipedia fan.

Tags, labels, good stuff

Hello! Well I have had experience with tags before just from other blogs I have been following for a while. I find them to very helpful if I want to pull up a post from the archives but only remember a part of it.

The uncontrolled aspect of it actually appeals to me. I think it makes it less intimidating for people to use and it allows a personal touch.

Library Thing

Whoo hoo two in one day! I LOVE library thing, it is similar to Shelfari where I already have an account but it is sorely needing an update. So here is the link to my account:

http://www.librarything.com/catalog/dizzy94

When I entered in "A Thousand Splendid Suns" in the suggester of course the first on the list was "Kite Runner" which of course I have already read, but the next suggestion was "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen and so I have put it on hold and plan to read it next.

I then put the same book in the unsuggester and the first book on the list was "Thud" by Terri Prachett which I did not put on hold.

Until next assignment

Flickr Fun

Hello again. Been a long time! So here is my thoughts on flickr. First I did find it easy to upload photos and since I already had a Yahoo account I just had to sign in and was off and running. This would be great for our new teen group VITz (Very Important Teenz) to use for our blog. We have already discussed having a blog and using photos from our activities. The only thing I would recommend is to have a permission sheet for the parents to sign so you can use their images online.

So this photo is one I took on our trip to Alaska in 1994. This is my favorite.
